How do I determine which gun cabinet is best for me?
A: Take an inventory of what you wish to put in your gun cabinet or fly rod rack. Go to the "Design Your Cabinet" page on this site, or review our catalog. The cabinets are divided into 12 lateral sections. The capacity of each section is outlined in both the catalog and our web site. Our knowledgeable salespeople are also a great resource for you.

How many guns will a Sportsman Cabinet hold?
A: If you devote the entire upper cabinet area to gun storage, the capacity for each cabinet is: 48 cabinet: 11 guns; 36 cabinet: 8 guns; 24 cabinet: 5 guns.

How many fly rods will a Sportsman Cabinet hold?
A: You can store approximately eight fly rods for every 12 of cabinet width.

Where is the optional safe located?
A: The optional safe is located in the lower cabinet area.
The safe has a separate key and is permanently attached to the cabinet.

How big is the safe?
A: The exterior dimensions of the safe are 9.5 high x 13.75 wide x 9.85 deep and it weighs 31 pounds.

What type of glass do you use?
A: All of our gun cabinets feature tempered glass. This glass is fracture resistant and will not break into large pieces, protecting you from harm in case of an accident. While the glass is strong, it will not prevent a determined intruder from gaining access to the cabinet.

Do the fly rod racks and gun cabinets have lights?
A: Interior lights are an option. We offer a superior low-voltage, halogen lighting system that allows you flexibility in light intensity and direction. See the accessories section of the "Design Your Own Cabinet" page.

How are the flyrods stored?
A: The cabinet is designed to hold your flyrods in two, three, or four-piece tubes. The tubes are held vertically in adjustable slots that allow for the tubes to travel to the bottom of the cabinet. Four-piece rod tubes can rest on the mid shelf for easy access. It may be necessary to remove some rod tubes to access others depending on the size of your rod tubes.

What materials are used to manufacturing the Vigilant

A: Standard cabinets are constructed of Mahogany and are finished with high quality varnishes. All our hardware is solid and not plated. All doors feature tempered glass to increase safety and security.

What choice of cabinet finishes do you offer?
A: Standard gun cabinets are offered in three finishes; cordovan, chestnut, and natural. We can match any custom finish of your choosing for a modest surcharge. Call us and we will be glad to help you.

How long will I need to wait to get my gun cabinet?
A: Manufacturing and shipping time may vary depending on the exact cabinet you order. Generally, gun cabinets are shipped within three to six weeks of your order.

What if I'm not satisfied with my cabinet?
A: All of our gun cabinets and fly rod racks are backed by our unconditional guarantee. If for any reason you're not satisfied with your cabinet, you may return it within 30 days for a full refund (less shipping costs). All cabinets are also covered by a two-year warranty.

A: All our gun cabinets and fly rod racks are manufactured in Dover, NH. The southern coast of Maine and New Hampshire are home to some of the finest wood craftsman and cabinetmakers in the world, and we are fortunate to have them working at our facility.
- Are your gun cabinets considered gun safes?
A: No. The Vigilant gun cabinets and fly rod racks
are functional and secure places to store and display your sporting equipment. However, they are not gun safes. While all Vigilant gun cabinets have locks and will secure your equipment, they will not protect it against fire or a determined thief.

How does the cigar humidor work?
A: If you need a place to store and preserve your cigars, our electronically controlled humidor is an option that can be included in the design of your gun cabinet. The humidor is located in the lower storage area. Our electronic humidification system automatically keeps your cigars at a constant 70% humidity and is maintenance free. - Can I get tinted glass in the cabinet doors?
A: Yes. For a small surcharge we will tint the glass to any desired darkness.

How are your gun cabinets and fly rod racks delivered?
A: All our sportsman cabinets are shipped via common carrier. They will take about four days to be delivered to the East Coast and Midwest and seven to ten days to the West Coast. The cabinet will weigh about 220 pounds and is shipped on a hardwood pallet. You will need to have several strong people on hand ready to assist the driver to unload the cabinet off the truck. If you would like white glove delivery (cabinet will be carried inside), we can arrange it for you.

Do you make a horizontal cabinet for four shotguns?
A: Yes, we do offer racking to store the guns horizontally. A 48" wide cabinet would hold six long guns. If you are interested in a custom gun cabinet please call us at (888)-556-6185 or contact us for more details.

Do you sell gun racks that can be bolted to the wall and used for display?
A: We don't sell stand alone racking for guns other than what is built into our gun and fly rod cabinets.
